DRC’s Romanée-Conti, Rousseau’s Chambertin, Vega Sicilia’s Unico, Egon Muller’s Scharzhofberger, Paul Jaboulet’s Hermitage La Chapelle – these are the true legends of wine. In 1224, a knight named Gaspard de Sterimberg, returned from the Crusades seeking calm and serenity from the horrors of war. Awed by the beauty and dramatic vistas of Hermitage, he settled at the top of the hill where he built a stone chapel to be used as a place for prayer and refuge. The chapel was purchased by the Jaboulet family in 1919 and has been the name of their iconic Hermitage red ever since.
40-60+ year old vines from the granite soils of Les Bessards and the limestone of Le Méal on the Hermitage hill – a magical combination of terroir. Completely converted to biodynamics in 2006.
Incredibly low yields of 10-15 hl/ha
