Viscount currently ships wine via UPS to the following places ONLY:
Alaska (except where prohibited)
District of Columbia
New York
We have investigated shipping to other states, but legal, bureaucratic or financial obstacles prevent us from doing so at the current time. Viscount is constantly monitoring the status of inter- and intra-state commerce laws regarding alcohol and hope someday to be able add more states to our list. We are unable to ship internationally.
The following shipping services are available from UPS:
Ground
3-Day Select
2nd Day Air
Next Day Air
Not all services may be offered to all addresses.
If after three unsuccessful delivery attempts your shipment is returned to us as undeliverable, an additional charge will apply to re-ship the order and the original shipping charge will not be refunded unless we have made an error. Since an adult over 21 year of age must be present to sign for a shipment containing alcohol, many customers find it easier to ship to a business rather than a residential address.
We cannot ship to P.O. boxes.
Shipping charges on our online webstore are calculated by weight and include container charges and insurance. For very rare or valuable wines, Viscount reserves the right to require and charge for extra insurance - we will contact you in this case. Shipping wine can be more expensive than for other products, due to the weight, special shipping containers, compliance checks and adult signature fees; nevertheless, we endeavor to keep our shipping fees as low as possible.
Viscount uses shipping boxes that are both UPS and Fedex approved. However, despite careful handling breakage occasionally occurs during shipment. Keep in mind that since fine wine is often an allocated commodity, it may not be able to be replaced with the same vintage should damage occur in transit.
Please realize that shipments may travel in non-climate controlled vehicles or facilities and be aware that fine wine can be at risk when subjected to extremely hot or cold temperatures that our beyond our control. For this reason, we prefer to ship early in the week for long-distance shipments to avoid having the wine sit in a warehouse over a weekend. Viscount is NOT RESPONSIBLE for the quality or condition of wines once they have left our premises.
In most cases your order will ship within 24-48 hours. If we believe that the shipment won't arrive at your destination by Friday of the current week, we may hold the shipment for the following Monday. If you are in a hurry and want your wine shipped immediately, please note this when you place your order or call us at (845) 298-0555. Similarly, if you want us to hold your order for a short period until the weather improves, please let us know.
Some states have shipping volume restrictions, typically for a given period of time, i.e., for a calendar month or year. We will contact you for instructions if your order needs to be held or amended in order to be compliant with regulations of the state you are shipping to.
Shipping estimates by UPS vary throughout the year, especially just before, during, and after holidays. Inclement weather may also delay shipments. If you absolutely require your order to arrive by a certain date, please consider a quicker mode of delivery, i.e., 2nd Day Air rather than Ground.
